Press Release Summary: Kalamata- The Kalamata International Dance Festival, Greece’s

place from July 18th to 30th. The festival programme features many international and
Greek artists as well as seminars, talks and lectures aimed at dance students and
professionals alike.

prime dance event and one of the major dance events in the region, is set to take
place from July 18th to 30th. The festival programme features many international and
Greek artists as well as seminars, talks and lectures aimed at dance students and
professionals alike. Other parallel events include publications, video dance
productions, silent movies and a live hip-hop performance.

Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter, enfant terrible of the London scene, opens
the festival, which continues with South African Gregory Maqoma, Chinese Ushio
Amagatsu, and British choreographer-dancer Jonathan Burrows. One of the festival’s
highlights this year is a Greek-Dutch dance project, jointly organized by the
Hellenic-Dutch Association of Commerce and Industry. The festival is scheduled to
take place in Kalamata’s historic castle and at other venues, including the
Municipal Regional Theatre and the city’s Cultural Centre.
