New Cowboy Musical Completed

(St. Louis, MO) From the creative team of the new musical “Make Me A Cowboy”.

The new musical, “Make Me A Cowboy” has been touted as both heart warming and is a
“brand new, rip-roaring, shoot-em up, belly-busting tale” of the American cowboy.
The musical score consists of 22 traditional and newly written cowboy songs. The
arrangements feature strong vocal harmonies.

“Make Me A Cowboy” is written for a small ensemble cast of eight (i.e. 6 men and 2
women), all of whom sing and play various instruments (e.g. piano, guitar, bass,
banjo, mandolin, tambourine, accordion, etc.) The instrumentation can and will be
modified to suit the talents of each individual cast.

“Make Me A Cowboy” has been written to be a presentational production. There is no
fourth wall. The cast interacts with the audience from the very beginning and
throughout the play, addressing them directly and in comedic asides, similar, to
shows such as “Smoke on the Mountain,” “Pump Boys and Dinettes”, and “Cotton Patch
Gospel”.

“We have planned this show to be mounted at an affordable cost, so all theatres,
rather grand in budget or humble in means can produce with ease” states Bailey, the
musical’s creator. “The show takes place in one location, each character has one
costume and the lighting can be as minimal or as maximum as the light designer
wishes or as the budget allows.”

Shannon Bryant, co-playwright, made the plot to be easily followed and move at an
interesting pace. It is a retro-western ala the style of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans
in the Sons the Pioneers movies. This musical has been developed to appeal to
everyone.”

If interested in receiving a perusal copy of the script and a demo CD of the music
please contact Don B. Bailey.
