A New York Play - First Time in LA (San Pedro)

Press Release Summary: The Relevant Stage Theatre Company at San Pedro\'s Warner
Grand Theatre Evokes a Contemporary Look at Veteran Affairs, and the Sacrifices of
the Young.

Press Release Body: Just in time for Memorial Day, the Warner Grand Theater in San
Pedro, 478 W. Sixth St. San Pedro, will present \"Over There/Over Here\" May 29-31, 7
p.m. and June 1, 1 p.m. \"Over There/Over Here\" is a play about a young black man who
enlists in the U.S. Army to escape a life of gang banging and drug dealing, but
discovers that some of the same situations and circumstances that were occurring in
his Crown Heights neighborhood are the same in Iraq. He returns home a broken man,
and must find a way to reconcile his experiences and move forward. Called \"an
impressive, poignant new work,\" by the New York Times, \"Over There/Over Here\" was
written by Michael Reyes, an ex U.S. Army soldier who served in Iraq before
returning home in 2004.

The play first opened in New York in 2006 at the Castillo Theatre. The play will now
have its West Coast Premiere by The Relevant Stage Theatre Company. General
admission tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for college students and senior citizens
and $5 for youth under 18.
