10 10 as SkillsTrain wins top slot from professional book-keeping body

Released on: May 27, 2008, 9:12 am

Press Release Author: Mary Stuart-Miller / SkillsTrain

Industry: Accounting

Press Release Summary: British distance learning college, SkillsTrain, has become
the country’s top achieving college in the recent International Association of
Book-keepers computerised book keeping exams. The company, which has trained over 6
million students in over 60 years, fought off fierce competition from other
full-time learning institutes and colleges, to achieve the top accolade.

Press Release Body: Luton based SkillsTrain, Europe’s leading IT distance learning
college, has been named as the UK’s top achieving college in the International
Association of Book-keepers Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Book-keeping, for
the January 2008 exam results.

The company’s home learners’ book-keeping exam results cumulatively achieved the top
slot for SkillsTrain, despite competition from students in full time study, making
the accolade even more remarkable.

SkillsTrain has trained over 6 million home and work based students over the past 60
years and uses a blend of learning techniques to prepare students for a variety of
disciplines, from technical IT courses to Web-design, office administration and
book-keeping.

The IAB is the leading international membership body for professional book-keepers
and provides financial and business qualifications for thousands of students and
members worldwide.

SkillsTrain Principal Myra Smallman said “this is a really great honour for our
students as it demonstrates how seriously they take their studies and how committed
they are to our home study courses. It’s quite remarkable for SkillsTrain to have
received this recognition when the college was up against so many full time courses
and colleges”.

In June 2007 a SkillsTrain student, Catherine Cutts, a 45 year old mother of one,
achieved the country’s top mark with an A+ grade with a 96% pass rate in the
International Association of Book-keepers Level 3, Certificate in Computerised
Payroll exam.
