Join the New York City Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the
New York County Lawyers’ Association and other organizations in rallying support for
the lawyers and judges affected by the emergency rule in Pakistan.

President Pervez Musharraf’s administration has suspended the Pakistani
Constitution; suppressed freedom of speech, press, and assembly; and undermined the
rule of law through the overhaul of an independent judiciary. Many lawyers and
judges have been mistreated by police and detained without charges.

News clips have depicted Pakistani lawyers dressed in identical attire (dark suits,
white shirts, men in plain dark ties). Lawyers are encouraged to wear similar attire
to show solidarity. Please know that any business attire is appropriate and simply
your attendance would be appreciated.
