Growing Demand for Food Storage Items at Utah Grocery Stores

Released on: October 25, 2007, 10:32 pm

Press Release Author: David M. Bresnahan

Industry: Food & Beverage

Press Release Summary: The demand for food storage items for use in emergencies,
natural disasters, and severe weather has been on a steady increase, and this Utah
company is meeting that demand.

Press Release Body: Salt Lake City, Utah – The demand for food storage items is on
the increase, and one company has found success retailing food storage products
through grocery stores.

“Consumers are concerned about the likelihood that a natural disaster, severe
weather, or other emergency may take place. That concern has brought about a high
demand for specially packaged foods that can be stored until needed,” explained Jeff
Augason of Blue Chip Group, Inc.

Recently Blue Chip Group, Inc. began marketing bulk foods that are packaged for
long-term storage in the Maceys grocery store chain in Utah. The products have been
well received and are selling well, according to Augason.

Most of the products are sold in large number 10 cans that can be used for regular
consumption or stored until they are needed. The products range from powdered eggs,
to clear gel, and the company’s signature product Morning Moos powdered alternative
milk product.

“Families like Morning Moos, because kids like the chocolate and orange flavors, as
well as regular milk flavor, plus it is less expensive than regular milk. It doesn’t
taste like the typical powdered milks on the market, so kids like it,” explained
Augason.

For over 30 years customers traveled to the company offices at 432 West 3440 South
in Salt Lake to make their purchases, or purchased through mail order from all
across the U.S. and from around the world, according to Augason. Now grocery store
sales have enabled the company to grow and add to their existing customer base.

The company also offers a large selection of gluten-free foods, which are in high
demand by the many people who cannot eat foods containing gluten.

Gluten-free products currently available include items such as bread, pancake mix,
bases, beans, baking powder, ascorbic acid, butter milk powder, butter powder,
cheese sauce, chocolate chips, dried milks, flavorings, fruits, lecithin, margin
powder, nuggets, oils, pizza, pasta, spice, popcorn, potatoes, raisins, seasonings,
shorten powder, and sour cream powder.

“When the only treatment for your condition is to eat gluten-free, your whole world
becomes a challenge, and an expense. We do our best to provide foods that taste
good, make life easier, and less expensive for those with celiac disease,” said
Augason.
