Released on = June 10, 2007, 10:25 pm

Press Release Author = Shushmul Maheshwari

Industry = Transportation & Logistics

Press Release Summary = There’s been an unremitting growth in tourist influx
in Thailand over the past few years. As a result, the country is seeing a positive
growth in its tourism receipts that reached almost Bt142 Billion during the 1Q of
2007.

Press Release Body = As per RNCOS’ recent market research report
“Opportunities in Thailand Tourism Industry (2007-2009)\", “Growing at a
CAGR value of around 7.71% during the five-year period spanning 2007-2011, number of
tourists coming to Thailand is expected to reach almost 20.03 Million by
2011.”

During the 1Q of this year, tourism receipts reached almost Bt142 Billion, around
9.6% up from the same period last year (2006). However the number of foreign
visitors the country welcomed during this period was almost 3.82 million tourists,
nearly 5.4% up from the same period last year. Tourist influx from Europe and Middle
East grew 12% and 30%, respectively, during the 1Q of 2006.

Supported by the govt. efforts, Thailand tourism industry is witnessing continuous
rise in its revenues. During the third week of May, the Thai government held a
discussion on the strategies for further boosting tourism in the country, as per
Suvit Yodmani – Tourism & Sports Minister. ETNA published this news on May 21,
2007.

The TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) intends to further promote Thailand in new
markets from South America to Middle East, so that tourist influx can be increased
dramatically in 2008, as per Phornsiri Manoharn – the governor. ScandAsia
reported this on June 4, 2007. \'\'The TAT\'s promotional campaigns in those markets
have started from this year (2007), and we expect they will bear fruit by next
year,\'\' she added.

Voted as first amongst the locations throughout the globe in offering value for
money, Thailand clinched ninth slot amongst the most attractive tourist destination
in a survey that FutureBrand magazine had conducted last year. In November 2006, TAT
had estimated that the tourism revenues would reach around Bt547.5 Billion in 2007,
up from approximately BT486.3 Billion in 2005.

In its report on “Opportunities in Thailand Tourism Industry (2007-2009)\"
RNCOS has notified, “Strategically placed between attractive tourist
destinations of East and West, and between the hemispheres of the South and the
North, Thailand is a country that’s all the reasons to allure tourists. As an
ASEAN member, the country is well placed to provide packaged services and implement
the schemes of promoting joint tourism that has been yielding and will continue to
yield increased mutual benefits, particularly for areas in strict need of concurrent
investment such as sea-port amenities.”

Key issues that this report attempts to answer include: what are the emerging trends
in the tourism industry in Thailand, position of Thai tourism industry with respect
to ASEAN tourism industry, and so on.
